Who we are

Hello, I’m Susan Hoover, originally from Minnesota, USA. I have a Masters degree in Spanish from the University of West Virginia and a Doctorate in English from the Universitat Jaume I in Spain. I’ve been living in Spain for over 20 years and have gradually come to include olive oil as a basic part of my family’s diet. And since I like to do research, I decided to research olive oil and started by taking the olive oil classes at the Superior School of Olive Oil here in Valencia and have been on their tasting panel ever since which has been an important part of learning to distinguish high quality oils from lesser grades that contain olive oil defects. Spain, and specifically Valencia, has a plentiful community of olive oil experts on all the facets of production, from the field techniques to proper milling practices and sanitary conditions, to distribution. As the world’s largest producer of olive oil, Spain has many different sizes of producers, and we focus on finding the high quality oils so that we can get the best extra virgin olive oils to your dinner table, and your family. The gift set contains 3 basic intensities: mild “smooth & luscious”, medium “zesty & sophisticated” and intense “bold & beautiful” and we hope that you will take advantage of the work we have put into organizing the oils and share the fun with family and friends.
